Writer's picture: Rent a Set StudioRent a Set Studio

Wondering how to get beautiful, buttery smooth background blur or โ€œbokehโ€ in your photos?

there are three main ways to do this

โ€”โ€”

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผlens choice

Get a telephoto lens- like a 55-250 or ideally a 70-200.

The more zoomed in you are to your subject, the more blur you have!

โ€”โ€”

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผDistance from background

Simply gave your subject move away from the background a significant amount.

Avoid just having them stand against the wall!

Look for leading lines, trees or interesting textures far off in the distance

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸผAperture

Get your lens to open up as big as you can. Get a 50mm 1.8 and open it up all the way to 1.8 to get the biggest blur!
